Virgola, a NYC Based Oyster & Italian Wine Bar Announces Franchise Expansion Plans for 2015

24, December 2014: Virgola Oysters & Italian Wine Bar, a unique dining experience established in February 201 3, is expanding its business operations by offering franchises throughout the United States.

Twenty years in the restaurant industry led Virgola  Oysters & Italian Wine Bar owner, Joseph Marazzo, to create a distinct concept that while particular to its original home can be replicated.

Vacationing in a coastal town near Rome, Joseph was inspired immediately by his first oyster. Marazzo returned home determined to build a place where he could recapture his experience on the beach, if even in a wildly different setting. He discovered and personally restored an 1 800’s alley in the heart of Manhattan’s Greenwich Village, where he opened the first Virgola  Oysters & Italian Wine Bar.

Motivated by neighborhood residents’ fond memories of the alleyway, Joseph repurposed the cozy, six foot wide space in a way that is artistic, intimate and comfortable but still evokes the history of what was once affectionately called “the alley”.

Affordably priced oysters, for which Virgola has become known, accompany selections of crudo, caviar and imported Italian specialties which have been carefully curated. Virgola’s exclusively Italian wine list takes you on a tour of Italy and its innovative cocktail program pairs perfectly with the menu, which is produced in a heat free kitchen.

Virgola began as one of Greenwich Village’s best kept secrets. It's success has led Mr. Marazzo to grow beyond the modest alley by franchising the Virgola Oysters & Italian Wine Bar concept across the country.
