European Waterways Presents New Alsace Summer Itinerary

08, May 2015: Luxury hotel barging company European Waterways has announced its new summer itinerary for their popular barge, Panache. The spacious 12-passenger vessel will begin its journey in Strasbourg, Alsace, and continue on through to Lorraine on this six night luxury cruise.

New Itinerary Schedule

Strasbourg, the capital of Alsace, has been an extremely popular destination among barging enthusiasts, with its intriguing mix of French and German culture. Passengers will have the opportunity to explore Strasbourg Cathedral and La Petite France on the riverfront, both popular tourist attractions of the city.

Panache will also make stops at a number of selected small villages that epitomise the beauty of the French countryside. La Petite Pierre has proven to be a firm favourite among guests, with its picturesque hilltop location and modernised castle.

Later on into the cruise guests will also visit the intellectual capital of Lorraine – Nancy. Nancy is the ideal destination for passengers interested in art, and it is often referred to as the 'home of Art Nouveau". This is evident throughout the detailing of the city architecture, such as the Place Stanislas royal square, which features gilded wrought-iron railings and lanterns. Guests are also advised to keep their eyes peeled for German influences in the architecture of Alsace and in the culinary specialities of Lorraine.

A spokesperson from European Waterways commented, "Historically, the Alsace and Lorraine regions were fought over for centuries, so are a fantastic mix of both French and German culture. We’re extremely excited to give our guests the opportunity to experience these fascinating historical regions on our new summer itineraries.”

The Vessel - Panache

The European Waterways Panache barge is comprised of six double or twin en suite cabins. The barge has been fitted with traditional décor and displays beautiful brass and mahogany fittings, complete with a large sun deck and heated spa pool. Anyone wishing to secure a place on the Panache summer itineraries is advised to book early, as interest is already high.
